ร้านกระเพรา (stir fried basil) is as ubiquitous a dish to a country as I’ve come across in my travels (A heavy nod to tortilla in Spain as well as baguettes in France). Everyone loves it, you can get it anywhere, and it’s always good.
At ร้านกระเพราสำหรับคนชอบเพ็ด (loosely translated as “basil restaurant for people who like spicy”) they primarily specialize in this humble dish. The meat is marinated before hand, instead of combining in the wok, this gives it a drier consistency. While I like a more oily/saucy texture, the flavor of this particular ร้านกระเพรา was on par with, and probably surpassed, any other I’ve had here.
You can also choose from 4 different spice levels. The hottest of which won’t knock you head off, but will still require a few cups of iced water.
note: my spice tolerance is rather high, even as far as Thai standards go, so proceed with caution when ordering.
