ข้าวขาหมู (stewed pork knuckle with rice) particularly THIS ข้าวขาหมู was my first “hold on a minute” experience with Thai food. Even though it’s made with Chinese five spice and eaten by mostly Chinese tourists (this location only) ข้าวขาหมู is as Thai as it gets. Fatty pork braised in a mother broth (some of the first batch is still in there), sweet and sour chili sauce, and a perfectly soft boiled egg all topped over rice are what make this dish so special. The skin is without a doubt the best part. The Thai woman who wears a cowboy hat is undoubtedly the most famous ข้าวขาหมู vendor in all of Thailand, and her ข้าวขาหมู is my absolute favorite, full stop.
A plate of rice, pork, mustard greens, and pristine soft boiled egg will set you back 50 baht.
